Itchy blisters will become open sores that will crust over and heal. The process on average takes about 2 weeks unfortunately and as you probably already know it is a life long virus that will continue to cause irritation, discomfort, and pain. I too have Genital Herpes and would love to answer any further questions you may have related to the virus. Feel free to email me. Good Luck!
Also for faster healing, be sure to keep the area clean and dry! Try taking salt baths and blow drying the sores after getting out, also taking Valtrex or Acyclovir may speed up the healing process and reduce the risk of future outbreaks.
