Please read this first and foremost- I have been diagnosed bipolar disorder from 9 different doctors, borderline and A.D.H.D from 2 different doctors; Since I have received this diagnosis the first time (4 years ago) I have been on over 15 different medications, 5 mental hospital visits and one 7 month visit to residential. My advice is- unless you’re having horrible problems with this ‘bipolar’ disorder, don’t bother with it, you probably don’t have it.
Those articles you read are very vague; EVERYONE has signs of bipolar disorder because everyone experiences emotions, but if you really do believe you have it go to the doctor and be honest about your symptoms. You can take a low dosage of medication to stabilize your emotions/moods, and if problems persist they can switch medication or up the dose.
Bringing it up with your parents should not be a problem, and if you are really exhibiting any of this they will most likely think there is something wrong already because signs begin at the age of 7
